The DCA Declaration for the killing of George Floyd

The Diyanet Center of America condemns the murder of 46-year-old restaurant worker, George Floyd in Minneapolis on Monday, May 25th, 2020.

Human life is sacred and all humanity is equal before the Law, as our Religion teaches:

“O, people! We have created you from a male and a female and then made you into confederacies or nations and tribes, so that you may know one another. The noblest among you in God’s sight is the most God-conscious or piety…” (The Qur’an 49:13)

“O, people! Indeed, your Lord is One and your ancestor is one. All of you belong to the line of Adam and Adam was created from dust. An Arab is no better than a non-Arab, nor is a white better than a black or a black better than a white except in God-consciousness.” (The Prophet Muhammad PBUH)

DCA is deeply troubled by the death of Mr. George Floyd and extends our condolences to his relatives and friends. We stand in solidarity with the African-American community as they continue to be subject to pain and suffering through unjustified acts of violence.  Let us pray that those responsible will be held accountable for these horrific acts.

DCA also urges all communities to conduct all demonstrations and rallies peacefully and within the confines of the Law.
