Opening Ceremony of Hijaz Memories Exhibition


​Orhan Durgut, one of the prominent and highly esteemed photographers of Turkey and around the world, opened an exhibition of photographies of holy lands of the Muslims, i. e. Makkah and Madinah in Diyanet Center of America on Friday, March 15, 2017. 73 artifacts selected from the archives of about 100 thousand photographs, which the artist has begun to take since 2006, are presented to the attention of the visitors. The purpose of the exhibition is to bring the spiritual atmosphere of al Macca al Makarrama and al Madina al Munawwara and symbolism of the holy land closer to Muslim people living far away. Mr. Aydan Karamanoglu, first counselor for the Turkish Embassy, Dr. Yasar Colak, President of DCA and Orhan Durgut cut the ribbon to the exhibition.

The exhibition will be open until April 14, 2017.

Uzun yıllardır Mekke ve Medine de fotoğraf çekimleri yapan fotograf sanatçısı Orhan Durgut, 15 Mart 2017 Cuma günü DCA’de hicaz fotoğraf sergisi açtı. Sergide, sanatçının 2006 yılından itibaren çekmeye başladığı yaklaşık 100 bin fotoğraflık arşivinden seçilen 73 eseri ziyaretçilerin ilgisine sunuluyor. Serginin amacı Mekke-i Mükerreme ve Medine-i Münevvere’nin manevi atmosferini ve yüksek sembolizmini çok uzaklarda yaşayan müslümanlarla buluşturarak özlemlerini gidermektir. Sergiyi Büyükelçilik Müsteşarı Aydan Karamanoğlu, DCA Başkanı Dr. Yasar Çolak ve fotoğraf Sanatçısı Orhan Durgut birlikte açtılar.

Sergi 14 Nisan’a kadar açık kalacak.
