MCPS Teachers visit the DCA

Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) teachers visited Diyanet Center of America campus on Thursday, May the 23rd, 2024 with a group of 19 teachers as part of their 3 unit “Understanding Your Muslim Student” class.

Teachers extended their knowledge about 5 pillars of Islam, observed the afternoon prayer, discussed how culture exerts a powerful influence on Muslim students and their families,  and how they can connect to their Muslim students and families by building positive relationships. Teachers enjoyed their time visiting other parts of the DCA as well such as Ottoman wedding hall and DCA grocery store. Tour is ended with a delicious treat of Turkish delights and Turkish tea at the tea house.
