On April 3, the Diyanet Center of America welcomed a group of ten students from Gettysburg College, Pennsylvania, as part of their academic coursework focusing on the history and culture of Islam and the Middle East.
During their visit, students engaged in an informative session that introduced the core beliefs and practices of Islam. The program also highlighted key aspects of Ottoman history, an essential component of their curriculum, providing historical context and insight into one of the most influential civilizations in the Muslim world.
As part of their experience, the students had the opportunity to observe the Friday (Jumu’ah) prayer, gaining firsthand insight into one of the most important weekly congregational acts of worship in Islam. They also engaged directly with the imam, asking thoughtful questions and participating in meaningful discussions about faith, practice, and contemporary issues.
DCA remains committed to fostering educational engagement and cross-cultural understanding by hosting academic groups and providing enriching learning experiences for students of diverse backgrounds.
