Originally built in 1934 through the efforts of Muslim communities from former Ottoman lands who immigrated to the United States, the Mother Mosque is recognized as one of the oldest mosques in America.

During the visit, they had the opportunity to learn more about the mosque’s historical significance and its important place within the Muslim community in the United States. They also discussed ongoing efforts to preserve the mosque’s historic character while bringing it back into active religious service.

UTEP USA Iowa State President Reşat Akıncı also joined the visit and shared information about the restoration and preservation efforts surrounding the mosque.

Diyanet Center of America expressed its appreciation to everyone who has contributed to preserving and supporting this important Islamic heritage site for future generations.
