DCA Hosted Masjid Leadership Training for Maryland Communities

The Diyanet Center of America recently hosted a Masjid Leadership Training for Maryland Communities, bringing together presidents, board members, and community leaders from 13 masjids across the state.

Organized in collaboration with The Iqamah Group, the program featured attorneys from the Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA), who delivered comprehensive guidance on nonprofit governance, legal compliance, and effective board leadership.

A total of 42 participants attended the session, reflecting a strong and growing commitment among Maryland masjids to uphold best practices in governance, transparency, accountability, and institutional excellence.

Key Areas Addressed by MLFA Attorneys:

  • Fiduciary duties and responsibilities of board members.
  • Legal compliance requirements for nonprofit organizations.
  • Structuring effective governance and maintaining bylaws.
  • Policy development and creating institutional safeguards.
  • Strengthening ethical and effective leadership within masjid communities.

Participants also engaged in meaningful discussions, presenting real-world challenges faced by their communities and receiving direct, practical guidance from experienced legal professionals.

"At DCA, we believe that strong communities begin with strong institutions. By investing in leadership development and governance education, we continue to support masjids in building sustainable, transparent, and professionally managed organizations that serve with integrity and long-term vision."
