Diyanet Center of America hosted a two-day Traditional Islamic Art Workshop on June 27–28, 2026, bringing together 35 participants for a meaningful weekend of learning, creativity, and hands-on artistic practice.

Throughout the program, participants explored several classical Islamic art traditions under the guidance of experienced artists. The first day featured sessions on Moroccan stucco patterns, Islimi and Rumi arabesque designs, and geometric Persian patterns. Participants learned about the historical and architectural significance of these art forms while practicing design construction and pattern development.

On the second day, participants took part in a full-day plaster carving workshop. Using traditional tools and methods, they transferred designs onto cast plaster panels and learned carving techniques, depth control, shadow, relief, and surface finishing. Each participant completed a carved panel to take home as a personal artwork.

The workshop provided an opportunity for attendees to connect with the rich heritage of Islamic art while gaining practical experience in traditional design and craftsmanship. Participants also enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere of Diyanet Center of America throughout the weekend.

We thank all participants, instructors, and organizers who contributed to this successful program.
