Let’s Talk Peace with Neighborhood
On Saturday March 4, DCA held its second “Let’s Talk Peace” event, a series on providing information about Islam and building bridges with local communities and organizations, which was organized by DCA representatives.
The event, that was primarily for neighbors, attracted over 100 attendees from the neighborhood, as well as many other faith groups. This was a two part program.
The first part included a video presentation about American Muslims, a short presentation about Islam by Dr. Yahya Alvi, and a Q&A session with Dr. Alvi and Dr. Edmund Tori. In attendance were also PG County Council members Todd Turner and Danielle Glaros, who spoke to the audience.
The second part was an open neighborhood community forum to discuss neighborhood concerns. Mr. Melvin Bilal, the security director, spoke about security concerns with regards to the fence and parking, while Ms. Sibel, the architect, discussed the upcoming application for the new Montessori program.
The event ended with a formal lunch and a tour of the complex.
