April Cooking Club with Yvonne Maffei

April 8, 2017, Saturday afternoon, guest chef Yvonne Maffei, author and founder of My Halal Kitchen, based out of Chicago, IL, joined KAGEM DCA’s monthly cooking club. Families and friends filled the Guest House Cafeteria eager to learn from and cook with Yvonne. The program started with a workshop discussing the deeper meaning of Halal, conscious living and clean eating.

Joined by surprise guest Sameer S. Sarmast, President and Executive Producer of Sameer’s Eats, participants were quick to join Yvonne in the kitchen and ready to chop, stir, and enjoy their meal together. For the main dish, “Slow cooked Lamb Carnitas with rice.”
And for dessert, “Almond Stuffed Dates with mascarpone, pistachios and citrus zest” and Alcohol- Free Pina Coladas! The cooking club ended with a book signing and smiles over a delicious meal!
