Awarded 40 Hadith Memorization Competition

Dear Youths!

We are inviting youths to participate in “The Awarded Forty Hadith Memorization Competition” organized by the Diyanet Center of America (DCA).

Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him) is the best example for those who want to understand and live our beautiful religion of Islam correctly and accurately, as has been pointed out in the Qur’an: ‘Verily, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon you) is a good example for you, those who are hoping for Allah and the Last Day, and for those who make a lot of remembrance of Allah. (Suratu’l-Ahzab, 33:21)

This verse explicitly advises us to follow our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as an exemplary guide for our words and actions. As we learn from one of his hadiths, the Prophet’s entire character was molded by Allah Almighty: “My Lord trained me, how beautifully He trained me!”. Therefore, we need to know and understand well his life, words, and actions.

Information About the Competition

– The purpose of the competition:
– To encourage our youths to learn more about the Prophet Muhammad’s character-traits and practice them well in their lives.

– Participation in the competition:
– Group A: Boys and girls who were born between January 1, 2008, and January 1, 2005, can apply. (12-15 years old boys and girls can apply.) Also, ten and eleven-year-old children are allowed to enter the competition. (between January 1, 2008, and January 1, 2010)
– Group B: Youths who were born between January 2, 2005, and January 1, 2001, can apply. (15-19 years old boys and girls can apply.)

– The competition calendar:
– Application Deadline: January 31, 2020
– Sharing Hadith Charts and Orientation: Friday, January 31, 2020 at 7:30pm, Auditorium, Cultural Center.
– Contest Preparation Time: February 1 to March 6th, 2020 (35 days)
– Special Lecture and Competition Preparation Class, “Listen from the Rasulullah Sallahu Alayhi wa Sallam”: Friday, February 7th and 21st, 2020 at DCA Cultural Center Auditorium.
– Pre-Qualifying Competition: Friday, March 6th, 2020, at 7:30pm. DCA Cultural Center 2nd Floor, Meeting Room
– Final Competition and Award Ceremony: Friday, March 13th, 2020 at 7:30pm, DCA Cultural Center Auditorium (Open to the public)

– The responsibilities of the competitors:
– The applicants will memorize the Arabic text and the English meaning of the hadiths on the hadith chart entitled “Forty Hadith”. The hadith chart will be shared on Friday, January 31, 2020, at 7:30pm at DCA Cultural Center Auditorium.
– The applicants also will join in the “Listen from the Rasulullah Sallahu Alayhi wa Sallam” special lecture and competition preparation class on Friday, February 7th and 21st, 2020 at DCA Cultural Center 2nd Floor Meeting Room.

– The application for the competition:
– Candidates may apply to the competition at www.diyanetamerica.org/hadith until Friday, January 31, 2020.

– The location of the competition:
– The candidates will participate in the qualifying competition at the Diyanet Center of America Cultural Center on Friday, March 6th, 2020, at 7:30pm. The winners will be eligible to participate in the final contest on Friday, March 13th, 2020, at 7:30pm.

– The awards of the competition:
GROUP A
First Prize: 250 USD
Second Prize: 200 USD
Third Prize: 150 USD
Fourth Prize: 125 USD
Fifth Prize: 100 USD
Sixth Prize: 75 USD
Seventh Prize: 50 USD

GROUP B
First Prize: 250 USD
Second Prize: 200 USD
Third Prize: 150 USD
Fourth Prize: 125 USD
