Rate: $250 for a 12 hour course over 4 days
Daily Rate: $60

What the students will learn:
– Fundamentals of Islamic calligraphy and the Thuluth style script (a foundational early-Ottoman script that evolved into other types of arabic scripts used in calligraphy).

– Introduction to tools and methods for artistically writing arabic letters.

– Hands-on instruction and practice on using the traditional tools of calligraphy, such as the reed pen (qalam).

– Practice writing arabic letters in Thuluth script.

Ustadh Khalid’s Bio:
Khalid Casado is a professional calligrapher and teacher from Madrid, Spain. He studied thuluth and naskh scripts with various master calligraphers in Spain and Turkey. After 6 years of intense dedication to the art he received his Ijaza or diploma in these two scripts under the tutelage of Master calligraphers Hasan Celebi, Nuria Garcia and Ferhat Kurlu from IRCICA (Center for Research of Islamic History, Art and Culture) in Istanbul.

He currently resides in Madrid where he teaches and produces his own calligraphic works. For the past couple years he has held classes with various organizations and institutions in the U.S, Spain and Norway.
