Eid Al Adha Celebration at DCA
EID AL ADHA CELEBRATION AT DCA
On September 26, 2015, The Diyanet Center of America hosted an enthusiastic Eid al-Adha celebration. Along with many Turkish citizens, Americans, and immigrants from around the world joined us in this event. During the celebration, our guests took a tour of our brand new exhibition, Dervishes and Their Belongings. Turkish food was served, and many kids’ activities were set up as well, including a moon bounce and a Henna stand. All was thoroughly enjoyed.
Around 5 o’clock, world-famous British Muslim photographer Peter Sanders showed us a fantastic slideshow of his most favored pictures in his book, In The Shade of The Tree. The book, the result of almost 35 years of photography, is his journey through Mecca, Medina, Indonesia, Morocco,Turkey and nearly 40 other countries. The photographs were beautiful, serene, and could only be taken by such a master of his art. DCA president Dr. Yasar Colak, the board members, and high ranked officials joined the guests for dinner late into the night.
